Vesugen research

What published studies found for Vesugen: 7 papers, 4 in humans, with sample sizes and key results.

C
Mostly animal studies
Why: Only small uncontrolled Russian human reports from the developer's network plus cell-culture work; no controlled trials or animal studies.

Vesugen (Lys-Glu-Asp, also called KED or T-38) is a St. Petersburg 'peptide bioregulator' promoted for blood vessels; the evidence is mainly cell- and tissue-culture work plus a few small, uncontrolled or poorly described Russian human studies (erectile dysfunction, 'biological age', occupational stress), all from the same research network. No independent or placebo-controlled trials were found.

✓ 1 positive~ 1 mixed? 5 inconclusive

Human data come from small, uncontrolled studies by the developer's network; safety has not been systematically assessed.

US compounding: Not compoundable. Not an FDA-approved drug and not nominated for FDA's 503A bulks list, so US pharmacies can't legally compound it. Status for every peptide.

[The efficacy of peptide bioregulators of vessels in lower limbs chronic arterial insufficiency treatment in old and elderly people].

n = 41 humansBefore-and-after comparison of clinical and instrumental parameters (monotherapy)

41 patients with vascular erectile dysfunction treated with Vesugen alone reportedly showed improved penile artery blood flow before vs after treatment; no control group.

Studied
Patients with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction as a manifestation of atherosclerosis
Compared with
Own baseline
Main outcome
Clinical and instrumental blood flow in the main penile arteries
Sample
41 patients with erectile dysfunction
Authors' conclusion
Blood flow through the main penile artery significantly improved after Vezugen treatment, both clinically and by objective indicators.
Limitations
No control group; abstract gives no numerical results.

[EFFECT OF SYNTHETIC PEPTIDES ON AGING OF PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC POLYMORBIDITY AND ORGANIC BRAIN SYNDROME OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM IN REMISSION].

n = 32 humansClinical study of Vesugen and Pinealon on biological age

32 people aged 41-83 with polymorbidity and organic brain syndrome given Vesugen or Pinealon: authors report improved 'biological age' indicators, but also pro-oxidant activity and a drop in blood CD34+ stem cells indicating suppressed blood-cell production.

Studied
People aged 41-83 with polymorbidity and organic brain syndrome in remission
Main outcome
Biological age indicators, oxidative and hematopoietic markers
Sample
32 people (18 men, 12 women)
Authors' conclusion
Vesugen and Pinealon had an anabolic effect and slowed biological aging indicators, Vesugen more visibly; prooxidant activity and reduced CD34+ cells were also found. Chromatin condensation was unaffected.
Limitations
Small study, no control arm described, no numerical results in the abstract.

[The peptide correction of neurotic disorders among professional truck-drivers].

150 male lorry-drivers and 150 male metal craftsmenQuestionnaire-based comparison with peptide correction

Study of 150 truck drivers vs 150 metal workers: peptide bioregulators (best effect with Pinealon plus Vesugen) reportedly improved psycho-emotional indices; the peptide comparison design is unclear.

Studied
Professional truck drivers compared with metal craftsmen controls
Compared with
Metal craftsmen (control group)
Main outcome
Neurotic states and psychoemotional indices
Authors' conclusion
Bioregulating peptides were reported to restore adaptive potential and improve psychoemotional indices (p < 0.001-0.05); combined pinealon and vezugen had the best effect.
Limitations
Peptide-treatment design and group sizes are not clearly described in the abstract.

[Comparative analysis of different methods of geroprotective].

n = 110 humansMonitoring study comparing geroprotective techniques (CO2 baths, hyperbaric oxygen, massage, oligopeptides)

Comparison of geroprotective methods in 110 people: combined Vesugen and Pinealon gave the largest improvement in biological-age indicators; design and numbers per group not described.

Studied
People of different age groups
Compared with
Other geroprotective techniques
Main outcome
Biological age indicators and safety
Sample
110 people of different age groups
Authors' conclusion
The most pronounced positive effect on biological age was seen with combined Vezugen and Pinealon; massage and oligopeptide drugs were the safest techniques.
Limitations
Abstract gives no numerical results.

Molecular aspects of anti-atherosclerotic effects of short peptides.

Cells / labIn vitro study of tripeptide T-38 and dipeptide RR-1

In aging vascular-cell cultures, tripeptide T-38 (Lys-Glu-Asp) increased the proliferation marker Ki-67, reduced p53 and reduced E-selectin.

Studied
Organotypic and dissociated vascular cell cultures during aging
Main outcome
Ki-67, p53 and E-selectin expression
Authors' conclusion
T-38 and RR-1 increased Ki-67, reduced p53 and reduced E-selectin synthesis in vascular cell cultures.
Limitations
In vitro; abstract does not name Vesugen explicitly.

Peptides tissue-specifically stimulate cell differentiation during their aging.

Cells / labIn vitro expression study in young and late-passage (aging) cultures

In aging human prostatic fibroblast cultures, Vesugen stimulated expression of differentiation factors CXCL12 and WEGC1.

Studied
Human embryonic pancreatic and bronchial cells and prostatic fibroblasts in culture
Main outcome
Expression of CXCL12, Hoxa3 and WEGC1 differentiation factors
Authors' conclusion
Vesugen stimulated differentiation factor expression in fibroblasts, with a stronger effect in aged cultures, which may be a mechanism of geroprotective effect.
Limitations
In vitro cell culture only.

Cells / labIn vitro immunofluorescence confocal morphometry of KED-treated cultures vs control cultures

In cultured human aortic endothelium from atherosclerosis and restenosis samples, the KED peptide cut von Willebrand factor expression 2.2- and 2.3-fold and fibronectin 5.5- and 4.6-fold and raised thrombomodulin 2.5-2.7-fold; developer's institute, cell culture only.

Key resultvWF fell 2.2-fold (atherosclerosis) and 2.3-fold (restenosis); fibronectin fell 5.5- and 4.6-fold; thrombomodulin rose 2.7-fold and 2.5-fold; tPA rose 2.2-fold in restenosis only
Studied
Primary endothelial cultures from human embryonic aorta and from aortic fragments with atherosclerosis or restenosis taken at bypass surgery in elderly patients
Compared with
Control (untreated) endothelial cultures
Main outcome
Expression of von Willebrand factor, fibronectin, tPA and thrombomodulin (CD141)
Authors' conclusion
The authors concluded KED reduces expression of adhesion/aggregation proteins and stimulates antithrombotic molecules, and is a potentially promising drug for atherosclerosis and restenosis prevention.
Limitations
Cell culture only; authors from the developer's institute; sample numbers not given.
