Vilon research

What published studies found for Vilon: 12 papers, 7 in humans, with sample sizes and key results.

C
Mostly animal studies
Why: Human reports are small, mostly uncontrolled Russian studies without numbers; the evidence comes mainly from rodent studies, with mixed tumor effects.

Vilon (Lys-Glu dipeptide) has been studied almost exclusively by Russian groups, mainly in rodents and cell cultures. The human data are small, mostly uncontrolled Russian-language reports (diabetes, cancer, goitre, appendicitis, periodontitis) that lack controls or statistics, so no benefit is established; animal findings are mixed, including more breast cancer in one transgenic mouse study.

✓ 3 positive✗ 1 negative~ 1 mixed? 7 inconclusive

No human adverse-event data in the candidates; one mouse study found Vilon accelerated breast cancer development.

US compounding: Not compoundable. Not an FDA-approved drug and not nominated for FDA's 503A bulks list, so US pharmacies can't legally compound it. Status for every peptide.

In patients with complicated appendicitis, adding Vilon (5 or 10 days), Thymalin or Epitalamin to standard care was reported to stimulate immunity, aid primary wound healing and shorten treatment by about 5-6 days; sample size not given in the abstract.

Key resultTreatment shortened by a mean of 5-6 days; Vilon needed half as many injections as Thymalin or Epitalamin
Studied
Patients with complicated acute appendicitis
Compared with
Conventional treatment; Thymalin and Epitalamin as comparators
Main outcome
Immune parameters, wound healing, length of treatment
Authors' conclusion
The authors report immunostimulation, primary wound healing and shorter treatment with the peptides, with Vilon needing about half as many injections.
Limitations
Abstract gives no sample size or statistics; Vilon cannot be separated from comparators on the evidence stated.
