Acute Effects of the Prostaglandin (Alprostadil) on Cerebral and Pulmonary Flow

TerminatedPhase 110 peopleThe Hospital for Sick Children2019-07-23 → 2021-02-24🇨🇦 Canada

Studying: Congenital Heart Disease · NCT04054115

About this trial

The second stage operation towards single ventricle palliation is 'bidirectional cavopulmonary connection' (BCPC). The superior vena cava is connected to the pulmonary artery, diverting 'blue' blood from the upper body (including the brain) to the lungs. A successful BCPC requires sufficient and easy blood flow through the lungs. Alprostadil is the synthetic form of prostaglandin (hormone that causes dilation of blood vessels) and has been shown to increase blood flow in the brain hence increasing blood flow to the lungs after BCPC, potentially useful in managing children post BCPC with low fl…

The Use of Prostaglandin E1 in Head and Neck Microsurgery

Unknown statusPhase 4242 peopleRandomizedNational Taiwan University Hospital2008-07 → 2009-07🇹🇼 Taiwan

Studying: Microsurgery, Head and Neck, Prostaglandin E1, Thrombosis · NCT00733434

About this trial

Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1 )has been shown to have vasodilatation and anti-thrombosis effects, so it is used by some surgeons after microsurgery to keep the patency of the anastomosed small vessels. However, PGE 1 may also causes some complications, like pleural effusion or deep vein thrombosis. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether a routine use of PGE 1 after head and neck microsurgery is justified. We aim to test the hypothesis that PGE 1 increases postoperative vessel patency rate in patients undergoing head and neck microsurgery, with a comparable complication rate as the control group.

Efficacy and Safety Study of Combined Oral and Injection Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction

Unknown status20 peopleRandomizedKeogh Institute for Medical Research2007-05 → 2008-09🇦🇺 Australia

Studying: Erectile Dysfunction · NCT00507286

About this trial

Erectile dysfunction (ED or impotence) is a common medical condition affecting many men world wide. The most commonly used treatment for ED are oral medications like Viagra (sildenafil), Levitra (vardenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil). If these are not effective the use of an injection into the penis (intracavernosal injection or ICI) is necessary. However in some men neither of these therapies is successful. Hypothesis: An adequate erection may be achieved in men with difficult-to-treat erectile dysfunction, when they are treated with a therapy of combination of tablet and penile injection, when…

Prostaglandin E1 (Liprostin) Treatment With Lower Limb Angioplasty for Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease

Unknown statusPhase 212 peopleEndovasc2003-02 → 2003-08🇺🇸 United States

Studying: Peripheral Vascular Disease · NCT00053716

About this trial

This is the first clinical research trial in which intravenous Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1 is a vasoactive hormone) will be used as supportive treatment along with the angioplasty procedure to treat or open up a blocked artery within one lower limb or the most affected of two limbs in subjects with Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease.

Registered trials include ones that haven't published results yet. Trials are matched on the compound's name and code names (Alprostadil, prostaglandin E1, Caverject, Edex) in the listed interventions.
