ClinicalTrials.gov lists 7 registered trials of Follistatin: 1 recruiting or about to, 1 running, 5 completed. Recruiting sites are in Honduras. The largest is Possible Sarcopenia, Sarcopenia, and Functional Status in Patients With Primary Sjögren's Syndrome (120 people).
This Phase 1/2a, open-label, non-randomized study is designed to evaluate the safety and tolerability of intramuscular AAV9-Follistatin gene therapy administered either as monotherapy or in combination with a VEGF-encoding plasmid. Secondary objectives include the assessment of preliminary signals of biological and functional activity, including changes in skeletal muscle mass and performance.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency of probable sarcopenia and sarcopenia in patients with primary Sjögren syndrome and to investigate the effects of sarcopenia on functional status, muscle strength, and quality of life. Adult patients diagnosed with primary Sjögren syndrome will be included in the study. Muscle strength, muscle mass, physical performance, and functional status will be assessed using various evaluation methods
Behçet's disease (BD) is a multi-system auto inflammatory disorder with vasculitic features.
The exact etiological of BD is still obscure, although environmental and genetics factors have been found to be involved in disease pathogenesis.FSTL-1 can act as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for Some inflammatory autoimmune diseases including BD.

Studying: Obesity · NCT06229899
About this trial
There is no clear boundary on which obese individuals should be considered metabolically healthy and which should be considered metabolically unhealthy. It is also not very clear whether the individuals who are considered metabolically healthy will remain healthy in the future. The objective of this study was to assess potential disparities in serum follistatin levels between these two distinct groups. Furthermore, the study sought to investigate whether this disparity could serve as a reliable indicator for distinguishing between metabolically healthy and unhealthy obese individuals.
This study examines the safety and effects of an injectable plasmid gene therapy. Plasmids are circular pieces of DNA which have been widely studied as a non-permanent \& non-heritable method for transferring genes and inducing gene expression. In this study the plasmid is a gene vector which contains the human FST344 gene intended to express and secrete bioidentical human follistatin into serum circulation. Follistatin is a myostatin and activin inhibitor that has demonstrated improved functional outcomes in mouse models of neuromuscular disease.

Studying: Becker Muscular Dystrophy, Sporadic Inclusion Body Myositis · NCT01519349
About this trial
The investigators are performing a gene therapy clinical trial in Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD) and sporadic inclusion body myositis (sIBM) patients. Both of these conditions have an important common feature: loss of ability to walk because of weakness of the thigh muscles. The investigators plan to do a gene therapy trial to deliver a gene to muscle called follistatin (FS344) that can build muscle size and strength. If successful, the investigators can increase the size of the thigh muscle and potentially prolong a patient's ability to walk. The gene will be carried into the muscle by a vir…

Studying: Healthy Adults · NCT07285629
About this trial
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of a combination klotho and follistatin gene therapy, delivered via a nonviral plasmid in healthy adult volunteers. Additionally, this study seeks to understand the cognitive and health benefits of this gene therapy.
Registered trials include ones that haven't published results yet. Trials are matched on the compound's name and code names (Follistatin, FS344) in the listed interventions.
