Doses studied in research Animal or lab studies only
What was given to people (or animals) in published studies and official labels, each linked to its source. This is not a recommendation: study products, purity and supervision differ from research-grade vials.
Animal studies: Old female rhesus monkeys received 0.05 mg (50 mcg) per animal per day intramuscularly for 10 days (PMIDs 28509500, 25946840); diabetic rats received it by mouth or intramuscularly (dose not stated); tissue cultures used 0.05 ng/ml.
Not an approved drug. One small, non-randomized report in 33 elderly people with type 2 diabetes (PMID 22448364) described lower glucose and insulin after pancragen but does not state the dose, route or duration in its abstract. Doses in animal studies do not translate directly to people.
What the research says
Pancragen (the tetrapeptide Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp) has been studied almost entirely by one Russian research group, mostly in rats, aged monkeys and cell culture, where it lowers blood glucose and stimulates pancreatic cell markers. The only human report is a small non-randomized, non-placebo-controlled study in elderly people with type 2 diabetes; no independent or randomized human data were found.

Prospects of using pancragen for correction of metabolic disorders in elderly people.Humanssize not reportedNo control groupComparison of healthy vs diabetic older persons, with pancragen given to patients with type 2 diabetes versus patients not receiving it
In 33 elderly people with type 2 diabetes and 30 healthy elderly controls, pancragen lowered fasting and post-load glucose, insulin and the insulin resistance index, while untreated participants showed no change; the study was not randomized or placebo-controlled.

- Limitations
- In vitro only.
-

Pancragen: questions people ask
What is Pancragen?
Russian short-peptide bioregulator. One of the Khavinson "bioregulator" peptides from Russian aging research, marketed for the pancreas. Evidence comes mainly from Russian cell and animal studies.
How much does Pancragen cost?
The cheapest Pancragen from an independently tested vendor is $0.475 per mg (Andy Peps Studio, PA20 Pancragen 20mg * 10 vials, $95.00). Across 14 listings from 13 vendors the median is $2.05 per mg.
Where can I buy Pancragen?
13 vendors tested by Finnrick sell Pancragen. The cheapest per mg right now: Andy Peps Studio ($0.475), Baohua Dongnuo Biotechnology BHD ($0.475), LN Peptides ($0.475). 0 of them publish a lab report (COA) for Pancragen; compare lab scores and reports in the table above before buying.
How much bacteriostatic water for 20 mg of Pancragen?
Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 20 mg vial of Pancragen gives 10 mg/mL: each 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe holds 1,000 mcg. With 1 mL it's 20 mg/mL (2,000 mcg per 10 units); with 3 mL, 6.667 mg/mL (666.7 mcg per 10 units). More water makes small amounts easier to measure. Mixing charts: 20 mg.
Is Pancragen FDA approved?
Sold as a supplement in Russia; not approved in the US. Research use only.
Can Pancragen be compounded in the US?
Not an FDA-approved drug and not nominated for FDA's 503A bulks list, so US pharmacies can't legally compound it. Compounding status for every peptide.
