Doses studied in research Animal or lab studies only
What was given to people (or animals) in published studies and official labels, each linked to its source. This is not a recommendation: study products, purity and supervision differ from research-grade vials.
Animal studies: Rats with transected sciatic nerves received 10 microg/kg cortagen intramuscularly for 10 days; other rat, chicken and cell-culture studies (including 0.05 ng/ml in tissue culture) did not report human-relevant doses.
No human trials were found in PubMed; nearly all studies come from one research group. Doses in animal studies do not translate directly to people.
What the research says
Cortagen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro) is a synthetic tetrapeptide from the St. Petersburg 'peptide bioregulator' program; the published evidence is a handful of small rat, chicken and cell-culture studies, nearly all from the same group. A claimed human benefit on nerve recovery is mentioned only in passing in an animal paper, and no human trials appear in PubMed. Added Europe PMC/CyberLeninka work (2001-2013, same St Petersburg group or collaborators) is cell culture, rat and mollusc-neuron data; one study found cortagen inactive on thymocytes, and very high concentrations were non-specific or toxic in neurons.

Cortagen: questions people ask
What is Cortagen?
Russian short-peptide bioregulator. One of the Khavinson "bioregulator" peptides from Russian aging research, marketed for the brain cortex. Evidence comes mainly from Russian cell and animal studies.
How much does Cortagen cost?
The cheapest Cortagen from an independently tested vendor is $0.375 per mg (Andy Peps Studio, CORT20 Cortagen 20mg * 10 vials, $75.00). Across 24 listings from 19 vendors the median is $1.65 per mg.
Where can I buy Cortagen?
19 vendors tested by Finnrick sell Cortagen. The cheapest per mg right now: Andy Peps Studio ($0.375), Baohua Dongnuo Biotechnology BHD ($0.375), LN Peptides ($0.375). 2 of them publish a lab report (COA) for Cortagen; compare lab scores and reports in the table above before buying.
How much bacteriostatic water for 20 mg of Cortagen?
Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 20 mg vial of Cortagen gives 10 mg/mL: each 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe holds 1,000 mcg. With 1 mL it's 20 mg/mL (2,000 mcg per 10 units); with 3 mL, 6.667 mg/mL (666.7 mcg per 10 units). More water makes small amounts easier to measure. Mixing charts: 20 mg.
Is Cortagen FDA approved?
Sold as a supplement in Russia; not approved in the US. Research use only.
Can Cortagen be compounded in the US?
Not an FDA-approved drug and not nominated for FDA's 503A bulks list, so US pharmacies can't legally compound it. Compounding status for every peptide.
Does Cortagen work? What does the research say?
