Q: How much bacteriostatic water for 10 mg of Epithalon?

Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10 mg vial of Epithalon gives 5 mg/mL: each 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe holds 500 mcg. With 1 mL it's 10 mg/mL (1,000 mcg per 10 units); with 3 mL, 3.333 mg/mL (333.3 mcg per 10 units). More water makes small amounts easier to measure. Q: Does Epithalon work? What does the research say?

Evidence grade C (mostly animal studies), from 11 papers: Human data are poorly described, uncontrolled or non-randomized reports; the evidence comes mainly from rodent and monkey studies by one research group. Epithalon (Epitalon, AEDG) has been studied mainly in rodents, cell cultures and a few monkeys, overwhelmingly by a single St. Petersburg research group, with reports of extended lifespan, fewer tumors and telomerase activation. Human data are limited to brief, poorly described or uncontrolled reports (retinitis pigmentosa, melatonin output, a non-randomized burn-patient comparison), with no independent randomized trials; a 2026 narrative review reaches the same conclusion. Q: What dose of Epithalon was used in studies?

Epithalon is tested only in animals or cells. Mice and rats received 0.1 microgram (e.g. PMIDs 16634527, 18856211) up to 1 mg (transgenic mice, PMID 12459848) by subcutaneous injection 5 times a week for months; rats were also given 30 ng intranasally (PMID 17955380). These are amounts used in published studies or official labels, not a recommendation.

What was given to people (or animals) in published studies and official labels, each linked to its source. This is not a recommendation: study products, purity and supervision differ from research-grade vials.

Animal studies: Mice and rats received 0.1 microgram (e.g. PMIDs 16634527, 18856211) up to 1 mg (transgenic mice, PMID 12459848) by subcutaneous injection 5 times a week for months; rats were also given 30 ng intranasally (PMID 17955380).

Human reports (retinitis pigmentosa, PMID 12195242; melatonin output, PMID 33280326) do not state the doses given and had no described controls. Doses in animal studies do not translate directly to people. Not an approved drug.

What the research says

Mostly animal studies

Why: Human data are poorly described, uncontrolled or non-randomized reports; the evidence comes mainly from rodent and monkey studies by one research group.

Epithalon (Epitalon, AEDG) has been studied mainly in rodents, cell cultures and a few monkeys, overwhelmingly by a single St. Petersburg research group, with reports of extended lifespan, fewer tumors and telomerase activation. Human data are limited to brief, poorly described or uncontrolled reports (retinitis pigmentosa, melatonin output, a non-randomized burn-patient comparison), with no independent randomized trials; a 2026 narrative review reaches the same conclusion.

How much bacteriostatic water for 10 mg of Epithalon?

Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10 mg vial of Epithalon gives 5 mg/mL: each 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe holds 500 mcg. With 1 mL it's 10 mg/mL (1,000 mcg per 10 units); with 3 mL, 3.333 mg/mL (333.3 mcg per 10 units). More water makes small amounts easier to measure. Evidence grade C (mostly animal studies), from 11 papers: Human data are poorly described, uncontrolled or non-randomized reports; the evidence comes mainly from rodent and monkey studies by one research group. Epithalon (Epitalon, AEDG) has been studied mainly in rodents, cell cultures and a few monkeys, overwhelmingly by a single St. Petersburg research group, with reports of extended lifespan, fewer tumors and telomerase activation. Human data are limited to brief, poorly described or uncontrolled reports (retinitis pigmentosa, melatonin output, a non-randomized burn-patient comparison), with no independent randomized trials; a 2026 narrative review reaches the same conclusion. What dose of Epithalon was used in studies?

Epithalon is tested only in animals or cells. Mice and rats received 0.1 microgram (e.g. PMIDs 16634527, 18856211) up to 1 mg (transgenic mice, PMID 12459848) by subcutaneous injection 5 times a week for months; rats were also given 30 ng intranasally (PMID 17955380). These are amounts used in published studies or official labels, not a recommendation.
