Anti-inflammatory tripeptide. The last three amino acids of alpha-MSH (lysine-proline-valine). Calms inflammatory signaling in cell and animal studies, notably in models of colitis and skin inflammation.

Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10 mg vial of KPV gives 5 mg/mL: each 10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe holds 500 mcg. With 1 mL it's 10 mg/mL (1,000 mcg per 10 units); with 3 mL, 3.333 mg/mL (333.3 mcg per 10 units). More water makes small amounts easier to measure. Mixing charts: 5 mg, 10 mg, 11 mg, 12 mg, 30 mg.

Does KPV work? What does the research say?

Evidence grade C (mostly animal studies), from 9 papers: Several mouse and rat colitis studies and cell work show anti-inflammatory effects; no human trials. KPV (Lys-Pro-Val, the tail end of alpha-MSH) has consistent anti-inflammatory effects in mouse and rat colitis models and in human cell cultures, with newer rodent work on obesity and fat metabolism, but no human clinical trials were found. What dose of KPV was used in studies?

KPV is tested only in animals or cells. Mouse colitis studies gave KPV orally in drinking water or in hyaluronic-acid nanoparticles (amounts not stated in the abstracts); cell studies used nanomolar concentrations to inhibit NF-kappaB and cytokine release. These are amounts used in published studies or official labels, not a recommendation.
